works for a while

breaks in a year or two

I have a NAS with 4 of these in them. After 3 years I have replaced 3 of them. To switch to the NAS models would cost me a ot as I would have to replace all four.

- Fast, usual reads and writes of about 175MB/S. - Quiet, runs cool - No issues over a year after purchase

- Be warned, there are 2 models of this drive out there. One with 2 1TB platters, and one with 3 666GB platters. The one with 3 platters is slower than the one with 2 platters. The one with 3 platters is also slower. Just do a quick google search to look it up for yourself.

Excellent drive, quiet and extremely fast for a 7200RPM hard drive. Also very reliable. Just be aware that there are 2 models out there.

-Great on-sale price -No problems with it so far -Lots of storage space

-Short warranty

If I ever need more storage space I will most likely purchase this again. I have no reason to opt for more expensive options. I have purchased multiple Seagate hard drives and none have failed or given me problems.

Died with almost no warning

I have had this drive for 3 years, and S.M.A.R.T sent me about 20110 hours of power on hours, which is around 837.9 days, or 2.29 years. The drive started clicking on me today (Aug 5, 2015) while I was gaming (off of my SSD, ironically), and I passed it off as the drive head readjusting, as this product makes similar noises as it is comparable to a WD Green drive. However, the clicking and other mechanical noises continued, and when I went to access the drive it could not. I rebooted into Safe Mode, and after an adventure, I managed to get all my important files off of it, plus a few games, before Windows stopped detecting it. I would give the product more stars, but I have a WD Black from January of 2011, that is still working with no signs of stopping soon, and it had a better S.M.A.R.T. performance and health rating than my Barracuda drive. It's a good drive for the price, but remember, you get what you pay for.

Nice reliable drives reasonably fast too. Less expensive than WD equivalents.

Warranty could be better. I did purchase express exchange for a pair of these as it is for a low end server raid array.

Ive had no complaints from my client on these, working flawlessly for 1.5 years now.
