Pros
-Runs cooler than my WD Black 1TB Drive -Free shipping and great $/per TB -5 Year Warranty (this is a huge plus for me) -Just as reliable as the WD SE drives at a better price point -The only brand of hard drive that I would buy (Also Hitachi - owned by them) -NCIX always has good weekly deals to watch for

Cons
-None

Summary

I bought this drive about a week ago and was surprised that I received it 2 days later - talk about great free shipping. Western Digital is the only brand I would ever buy and I always make sure to spend more to get the Black series drives because it has been extremely reliable for me and the warranty is a must. I was contemplating getting a 4TB Red series drive for 60$ cheaper but I would easily spend that to buy the WD Black series to get the 2 more years on the warranty. My previous WD Black 1TB is now used as a back up drive and I mainly store my files on the 4TB. It is very fast and not noticeably noisy - my seagate drive used to be very noisy in comparison. Be smart and spend the extra money to get this drive, its worth every penny.

Cons
Runs very warm.

Summary

This WD Black 4tb is great for a secondary drive. I use it for all of my steam games. The 5 year warranty gives excellent peace of mind.

Pros
Performance, Reliability, One of the fastest hard drives.

Cons
Runs hot, more expensive

Summary

Fast internal storage for multimedia files. One of the most reliable hard drives on the market. Long warranty that hopefully you won't need to use running it 24/7. Should use SATA 6GB/s controller.

Pros
Performance Size

Cons
None

Summary

Using the drive as a media storage and Steam Library, working great so far. I got 3.63 TB of usable space on the drive. What with liquid cooling and an SSD boot drive this drive is probably the loudest thing in my rig, you can definitely hear it spinning when moving files around or running a malware scan but it's not too bad. Anyway, great drive and I would highly recommend it until the days of 4TB SSD's that cost less then a space shuttle come along.

Cons

Summary

Pros
I installed the WD4003FZEX as a GPT type data disk on my dual boot PC (Windows8 and Linux). I don't plan to to boot from it since my motherboard is 5-years old. Fof the install to run smoothly, it is imperative to first initialize and partition the disk with Windows (as a GPT disk), and then add partitions in Linux. Windows creates a "Microsoft reserved" partition for itself in addition to the user partitions. Windows8 won't see any partitions created in Linux if the disk is first initialized in Linux, but it sees them if the Linux partitions are created after Windows did his things. Otherwise, the disk is not louder than the HD it replaced. I installed the new HD just behind a fan so it gets a lot of cooling.

Cons
None

Summary

The disk works fine both in Windows8 and in Linux. In Linux, upgrade to util-linux-2.24.1 if you wish to use 'fdisk' to make the Linux partitions, which I did.
